Any successful tile Installation doesn’t really require expertise but skills. A successful tile installation guarantees years of trouble-free performance and increases your home’s value and beauty. To properly install tile, careful planning is important. Installing ceramic tile requires a variety of tools, so make sure you have the right set of tools for the right purpose under consideration.

When installing tiles it is important to remember the following factors (presented to you by 24hr Carpet Cleaning):

-Preparation of surface where the tiles are to be installed

-The layout to be planned for organizing tiles

-Setting the tiles in the right order so as to avoid organization problems

-Grouting joints

Planning is often underestimated and sometimes even forgotten (can you believe it?). Planning your tile installation from A to Z is probably one of the most important steps for a smooth, easy going and problem free bathroom tile installation.

Also, suitability of the tile, Pattern /colour of the tile, size of the tile, size of the area to be tiled, are important data that will be vital to know how much tile, grout, etc, you have to buy. As well as adhesive, mortar or grout to suit your needs.

The technique of laying tiles is not especially difficult. It only takes a little bit of practice before anyone can easily master it. Clearing the room to be tiled before starting will help you to do the job safer and easier. Don’t forget to wear your safety goggles when cutting or chipping tiles. Laying ceramic tiles can also be a bit messy, if you don’t want dust all over the house we suggest sealing the room you want to tile whenever possible. A large piece of plastic tacked to the door frame will do the job quite well. Try not to allow any adhesive to get on your skin and never forget to read the manufacturers’ directions before even opening the tin. If some ends up on you, just clean it with water as soon as possible. Even though tile adhesives aren’t usually abrasive, if you leave it for some time it may cause an allergic reaction. If you get any on your upholstered furniture however, it is suggested to find an Upholstery Cleaners quickly!

Use a spirit level to help you with the depth & level of the tiles and spacers to maintain an even distance between them.

The finishing touches:

Once the tile adhesive or mortar has cured (dried) and the tiles are firm and even, you can start with the finishing touches.

You’ll have to fill the spaces between tiles with grout making sure you don’t leave any gaps as these cause damp problems, in a shower for example.

The technique is very simple, use a rubber faced trowel to spread the grout and a cotton cloth to clean the excess grout from the tiles afterwards.

There are many different types of grouts; you’ll have to choose the right one depending on the surface and chosen tile.

Now that you have your tiles laid down, you only need to take care of them, usually manufacturers provide information on taking care of their tiles and only minimal effort is required. Most household cleaning products will do the job well, if some particular stain is stubborn, there are many commercial stain removers, just make sure you use the right product for the right tile.

Tile sizes range from 1/4-inch squares to 12-inch squares and larger. The latest available tile shapes include rectangular, triangular, hexagonal, octagonal, round and others. And floor tiles are manufactured in practically any color in the spectrum, with neutral colors being the most popular choice for residential use. The many choices in tile appearance coupled with dramatic installation patterns make a new ceramic floor a canvas for the creativity of the designer. And of course once the job is fully completed you can place a great Area Rug to really accent the room, but don’t place it in until you fully cleaned up or you will be needing an Area Rug Cleaners.

While an attractive material for any room in your home, the strength of tiles makes it ideally suited for entryways, kitchens, bathrooms and other areas prone to heavy traffic or exposure to dirt and moisture. Select tiles that are easy to clean, requiring little more than a damp cloth for dirty or greasy surfaces. Select tiles that are naturally resistant to chemical and biological agents, and the ability of ceramic surfaces to prevent humidity also reduces the presence of dust mites and fungi.

With just a little patience and the proper installation procedure, placing a tile floor may be an attractive and rewarding addition to your list of upcoming remodeling projects.

Most of the times removing the old carpet comes as a part of the deal when purchasing a new one. The task is mainly accomplished by the company providing the carpet solution but if the user demands a change in the floor setting then he might have to himself remove the old carpet. For most of the people removing the old carpet can be a very big problem as most of them have no idea of how to go through the process. Some of the most common doubts that the users have in minds comprise of removal and disposal of the huge carpet by self. Preparing the new floor for a new carpet also brings forth several doubts in the minds of the people. Various experts out there in the market provide the users with several easy to use processes which can be helpful in removing the old carpet.

A four step process of self removing the old carpet can be stated as below. The process will cater to all the above doubts and will not only help in the process of removing the old carpet but will also provide help regarding disposing off the material.

Step1: Cutting the carpet into manageable size

This is the first step of removing the old carpet. Most of the people believe that the carpet has to be removed in a single piece as it came in but it should be known that cutting it into pieces will easy off the pressure. The users are advised to bring into usage a knife in order to cut the carpet into pieces. The use of scissors will lead to more hard work on the part of the remover. Cutting the carpet should begin from the corner or the edge of the doorway. The remover is advised to simply lift the carpet and begin with the cutting process. The carpet can be separated in to pieces of 2 to 3 feet in width and 6 to 7 feet in length. Cutting of the carpet can be followed by rolling and depositing of the carpet in the back of the truck, dumpster or in the garage.

Step2: Removal of the carpet pad

Removal of the carpet pad is much easier than removal of the carpet. The user is advised to follow the same process of cutting the pad into pieces which can be removed easily.

Step3: removal of the carpet tack strips

The third step in removing the old carpet includes the removal of carpet tack strips. It should be kept in mind that these strips can be very painful to step on. The user will require a hammer along with a flat screwdriver for the removal of the tack strips. The screwdriver can be used to prying up the strips.

Step4: cleaning the place

With all the removal processes gone through, the only step left is cleaning of the place. It should be made sure that the carpet glue and the pieces of carpet pad are removed carefully. The glue can be easily scraped away with the help of the screwdriver or a knife. In the end the vacuum cleaner will provide the final cleanup. Oh and don’t forget to call Avishay for your next Carpet Cleaning, Curtain Cleaners, Rug Cleaning, Upholstery Cleaning, Carpet Repair, or Fire Damage Cleanup.

Easy Tips on Hardwood Flooring Installation

There are different types of flooring solutions that are available in the market. To name a couple, there is carpeting, and there is hardwood flooring. Carpets are soft and comfortable and require a cleaning by a professional such as Avishay Boston Carpet Cleaners Co. to come in a clean them every so often. Hardwood flooring, on the other hand, is not as soft but is easily cleaned with a mop and provides homes an elegant and comfortable ambiance. You can always get a nice area rug to help improve the look in certain areas that you want a softer feel, but keep in mind, just like carpet, expensive area rugs require professional cleaning, like Avishay Boston Area Rug Cleaning to maintain its new look. Getting back to wood flooring. aside from making the interior of your home appear luxurious, it also adds more value. There are flooring companies that offer flooring installation. However, you can do this on your own. Before you start with the process of installing hardwood floor on your own, there are easy steps and tips that you have to learn.

Stacking the Materials

The first thing that you have to do is stack the flooring materials inside your home for some days. This will allow the hardwood flooring to adapt to the level of humidity within your house. If you forget to do this, the wood materials will buckle and warp after you lay them. If this happens, you will be forced to lay flooring in replacement of the ones that have been easily damaged.

Laying the Materials

When laying or installing the hardwood flooring materials, always remember to lay them horizontally to joists of the floor. If you want to know the location of each joist, you have to place the walls with marks above each other. In this way, it will be easy for you to determine where to put each flooring material.

Another thing that you have to remember is to make sure that the floor is laid with asphalt felt prior to the installation of the hardwood floor. In this way, you will be able to protect the flooring material from the penetrating moisture of the floor. This also prevents the floor from making squeaking sounds.

When you are beginning to install the hardwood floors, it is more useful to lay out the flooring boards first. Another thing that you have to make sure of is to keep the boards staggered. This means that the end joints of the flooring boards should not be laid close to each other. The most recommended distance between one flooring end joint of a certain row to the end joint of another row is six inches lower.

Cutting the Pieces

The next step is to cut the flooring board pieces, and make sure that they precisely fit the row’s end. The piece should not be lesser than eight inches. There should also be an allowance of a half inch between the walls and the boards’ edges, all throughout the room.

When you want to cut off some of the flooring boards, the sawing materials that you have to use should only consist of a miter saw or radial arm. On the other hand, blind nailing should not be done in flush. Blind nailing is done with the use of finishing nails and a hammer. Flush driving the nails will leave indentations on the board. The best thing to do is to stop hammering if the nail’s head is projecting or protruding from the flooring board. When the nail’s head is 1/8 inches from the hardwood floor board, you should utilize the nail set. You have to place the nail set sideways, on top of the wood tongue’s upper edge. Drive the nail by tapping it with a hammer. In order to make sure that each nail is completely flushed with the flooring board, utilize the nail set tip.

If you want to install hardwood floors by yourself, you have to follow these steps. This way, you will not meet any disaster throughout the laying and the installation of the flooring materials. And if you do decide to go with carpet, keep Avishay Boston Carpet Cleaning in mind for proper maintenance.

Vacuum cleaners are a necessary item to own especially if you have carpeting in your home. But, even if you only have wood flooring and tile on your floors, vacuuming them helps to minimize the amount of dust that collects and makes mopping easier. If you have dust allergies, then regular vacuuming of floors, upholstery and draperies can also help to reduce allergens and make your environment more pleasant.

There are two primary categories of vacuum cleaners that are available on the market for residential use: canister vacuums and upright vacuums. Which type you choose for your home will depend on the type of floors you have and also the capacity that you need. There are many different models to choose from in each of these categories.

Canister vacuum units are made up of two main components. The canister component houses both the vacuum motor and also the collection area for the dust, debris and dirt. The suction component attaches to the canister by a hose and is the part that is held onto and directed to the area to be cleaned. Generally, the canister is on a set of wheels so that the unit easily follows the user as the hose is moved through the rooms.

An upright vacuum is a one piece model with all of the main components housed in the main body of the unit. Normally, the motor and the reservoir for dust collection are contained in the upper part, and the suction head with the beating apparatus is against the floor. The handle extends and usually has additional controls to change the settings of the vacuum. This type is moved through a room by controlling the handle.

The measurement of the strength of the suction in vacuums is noted as CFM, or cubic feet of air per minute. Models with a CFM of 40 or less are not strong enough to do a good job pulling dirt from your carpet. Many low-cost upright vacuums fall into this category and some feel they are not worth the money. The best vacuum is one that has at least a CFM of 100, since it can even pull sand out of carpeting. Even though these are more expensive, they will help your carpet stay cleaner and last much longer.

When shopping for vacuum cleaners for your household, you will also want to consider the ease of maintaining the device. It is a good idea to take a look inside the unit so that you can judge the complexity of changing the vacuum bags. Some are well designed, and changing bags and taking care of other maintenance it quite simple, while other machines are awkward and unwieldily.

Cleaning urine may not be the most pleasant job; however, it is an essential necessity in maintaining an stain free, odourless and hygienic home. Many people associate urine cleaning with pets, yet anyone with kids who are potty training or people who have urinary incontinence will have to clean urine.

When cleaning urine which has been caused by animals it is important not to use ammonia based products as cats in particular will return to the same spot and continue to urinate there.

Obviously the best way to clean urine is to tackle it straight away if possible; clothes or mats which are washable should be rinsed thoroughly with cold water and then placed on a hot wash using a biological detergent. If a urine stain has dried onto clothes or bedding it should be soaked in a solution of salty water prior to washing.

Cleaning urine from a carpet can be carried out by treating the area with soda water, this should help to reduce staining, when the excess urine has been soaked up the area can be washed with a solution of salt and water, rinsed and blotted dry with disposable paper towels.
Alternatively sprinkling the area with bicarbonate of soda and leaving it to soak up the urine before hoovering can help reduce odours as well as removing any staining.

Soft furniture can be a problem if the covers are not washable, the area should be treated as above and if at all possible the chair or cushion should be taken outside to dry fully.

Mattresses can also be sponged down and left to dry by providing as much natural ventilation as possible. For kids or the incontinent a mattress protection cover maybe worth considering as these are far easier to launder and keep clean.

If there is a suspicion that the urine may be infected, for example if the person or animal has a known urine infection, it is advisable to use an antibacterial spray or disinfectant to reduce the risk of contamination to others. Urine infections are generally very contagious and therefore every possible precaution should be taken to ensure that the area is washed and dried thoroughly. In cases where the infection is severe it may be advisable to discard any clothing which cannot be washed at high temperatures.

Cleaning urine from a wooden floor should be undertaken as soon as possible to reduce the risk of staining, the ammonia found in urine, if excessively strong, may take the varnish off the floor. Spills should be mopped up and the area disinfected, if the urine has dried and stained it may be necessary to sand the area and re-varnish.

It is imperative to clean mold effectively to remove it and ideally prevent it from returning to your home.

Many hundreds of people have adverse reactions and illnesses such as repository problems, asthma, skin rashes, irritation of the eyes and symptoms which are similar to a cold. It is therefore imperative to clean mold effectively to remove it and ideally prevent it from returning in a home.

When tackling mold cleaning eyes protection, rubber gloves and a respirator should be worn, if the mold is particularly invasive and thick old clothes which can be easily laundered should also be worn.

All mold should be dampened prior to removal to reduce the number of airborne mold spores, this will also reduce the risk of spreading the mold. Any hard surfaces such as plastic, glass, metal and counter-tops can be cleaned with soaps and detergents which do not have ammonia, however it is impossible to to clean mold from porous surfaces such as carpets, rugs and wallpapers these items will need to be removed and thrown away.

Cleaning may not completely remove mold from wood, this should be sanded and all of the sawdust cleaned up thoroughly, preferably sanding should be carried out in the outdoors. Once sanded the wood will need to be re-treated with varnish or lacquer.

Once the mold had been removed the area needs to be disinfected with bleach diluted with water or a commercial mold cleaning product. In order for the surface to be disinfected it needs to remain wet for a minimum of fifteen minutes, windows and doors should be kept open for ventilation and rubber gloves should always be worn. After fifteen minutes the area should be rinsed with clean water and the surfaces dried quickly by fans or natural ventilation.

In order to prevent further mold areas which are damp should be kept dry as much as possible if not entirely. Regular and thorough cleaning will not only help prevent mold from re-appearing but also ensure that any airborne mold spores which have re-settled are effectively kept at bay.
Air cleaners are not a satisfactory way to clean mold, although they will remove the spores from the air they do not clean spores which have landed on surfaces and floors.

By following the three steps of firstly removing the mold and cleaning all surfaces, followed by disinfectant and finally rinsing and rapid drying will provide a clean home, remembering that it is not possible to clean mold from porous materials, unfortunately these will have to be replaced.
